How much does it cost?

$30 per hour, per participant. Most outings run 4 hours, so a typical session is $120 per participant. Some outings may include small additional costs for entry fees, supplies, or activity expenses - these are kept as low as possible and families are notified in advance when they apply. Billing is monthly and we accept check or Venmo.

What grant funding is available?

For families within Boulder County, two grant programs may help cover the cost of Rise & Shine services. The Family Support Services Program (FSSP) and the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Program both offer funding that can be applied toward community-based support services like ours. Reach out to learn more about whether your family may qualify.

Is transportation included?

Yes! Pickup from home and drop-off back home is included in every outing at no extra charge. You don't need to arrange your own transportation.

Do participants need to attend every week?

We ask for a consistent weekly commitment. Regular attendance is what allows meaningful friendships and routines to develop within the group. If something comes up, just let us know as soon as possible.

What if I need to cancel?

We understand life happens. We ask for at least 24 hours notice if your loved one won't be able to make it. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be charged 50% of that session's rate. Consistent last-minute cancellations may affect your spot in the group, as our groups are small and every participant matters to the dynamic.

How big are the groups?

Groups are intentionally small: 3 to 4 participants per group leader. This keeps outings personal, manageable, and genuinely fun for everyone involved.

What is required before an outing?

Before participating, all families complete an intake packet that covers the participant's health and safety information, emergency contacts, preferences, communication needs, and any behavioral considerations. This allows us to provide truly individualized care and make sure every outing is set up for success from day one.

Are the activities safe?

Safety is our first priority on every outing. We review each participant's intake information before any outing, plan activities appropriate for the group, maintain a low participant-to-staff ratio, carry emergency contact information at all times, and follow established protocols for medical situations, incidents, and emergencies. All activities take place in community settings appropriate for adults.

What if my loved one has medical needs or specific support requirements?

That's exactly what the intake process is for. We review every participant's needs before they join and plan around them. If you're unsure whether Rise & Shine is the right fit, reach out — we're happy to talk it through before you commit to anything.

Is Rise & Shine covered by Medicaid or insurance?

Not yet! Rise & Shine is currently a private pay program. We are actively working toward Program Approved Service Agency (PASA) status with Colorado Medicaid, which will allow families on HCBS waivers (DD or SLS) to use waiver funding for services if they choose. We will notify all current participants as soon as that becomes available. In the meantime, payment can come from personal funds, special needs trusts, personal care allowances, family contributions, or grant funding.
